It has been almost a year to the day since I started writing a book. I’ve shared some of that journey in a previous post with you but it has been a while since I’ve updated you. There have been several developments in the course of this project. Most of the developments have been spiritual transformation as God has used the words I’m writing to seal His truth over my heart and life.

You may remember from my previous post, I started writing a book having no idea what I was doing. I did a little research but basically I just dove in. I dove in hard and fast and quickly realized I was going to have to pace myself. Though, I now would call myself a writer, it is not my main gig. I am a wife, a mom, a daughter, a friend, a women’s minister, a blogger and somewhere way down that list I am a budding author. God has spoken to me clearly through this project. This book was conceived first in His heart and will be birthed in His timing. The delivery process, however, has been a labor of love.

Over the past year God has opened several doors for me as I have spoken with authors in my same genre and contacts in the publishing industry. I have had well-knowns agents and publishers review my proposal. The feedback I have gotten has been exciting. I’ve been told my concept is unique (which apparently is a good thing), my writing is good but my platform…well that needs some work. Yada. Yada. Yada.
Apparently the concept of “platform” is all the rage in the publishing industry. You either have it or you don’t and the best I can tell it can never be big enough. I get it, publishers are businesses. They are out to make money and an unknown redhead living in North Alabama may not make them a lot of money. So, here we are.
My book is almost done. Well, done from the content side. I planned the book to be 12 chapters and I’m about 1/2 way through the 11th chapter. It hasn’t been edited. There are probably plenty of corrections, grammatical issues and re-writes to be done. I’m still plugging away. Getting up early once a week to put words into a book God told me to write.
In preparation for meeting with agents and publishers this summer, I created what is called a “one-sheet” in the business. The one-sheet provides a little snap shot about my book. This is just a preview of what God has penned through me.
Thanks for journeying alongside me. I so appreciate your prayers, encouragement and support as I continue on a path of trust and obedience.

Congratulations on making it this far! I know how hard it has been and the time and effort it takes just to get a blog post done, much less 11 1/2 chapters! Bravo! Keep up the hard work and prayer. I will be praying for the next steps for you. Be blessed.
I am a fairly new reader and this is the first I’ve heard about you writing a book. From reading your ‘one page’…Room To Move is a book that I would be interested in reading. Thanks for sharing and I can’t wait to hear more about your book.
Thanks, Toni. I just finished chapter 11 so I have one more chapter to go before all the editing and such begins. It is a crazy process–one that seems overwhelming at times but I press on! Thanks for your encouragement.
