8 reasons fear is powerless for a Christ-follower

Fear is both powerful and universal. No matter a person’s station in life, we all experience fear. But as a Christ follower, you don’t have to be bound to the grip of fear in your life.

Those who are hidden in Christ are guarded against the powers of enemy. He is the victor and you belong to Him.

And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.--Colossians 2:15

It can be easy to forget that fear is powerless over you when it seems to be flexing its muscles and persuading you it is stronger than the one who has disarmed it of its power.

Fear can be a powerful emotion, but it is powerless for those who follow Christ. Here are 8 reasons fear is powerless for a Christ follower (and if you are in relationship with Jesus, that means you!):

One: You Are Not Alone
When you are in Christ, you are never alone. He has promised to never leave us or forsake us, and He will always be with you through every trial and tribulation that comes your way. Even in the midst of your darkest moments, God is there to comfort and guide you.

Two: You Have a Heavenly Father Who Loves You
Your heavenly Father who loves you unconditionally and will never abandon you. No matter what happens in life, God will always be there to provide strength and support. He will never leave your side or turn away from you when things get tough.

Three: You Have Access to His Promises
The Bible is filled with promises from God to help you overcome fear and anxiety. When you read these promises, you can be reminded of God’s love for you and His power over all things. Knowing God is in control of your life offers you the courage to face any situation with faith instead of fear. Receive what is offered.

Four: You Can Pray For Strength & Guidance
When faced with fear-inducing situations, you can talk to God as your source of strength and guidance. Praying for courage and wisdom can help you to focus on the truth of God’s Word instead of allowing fear to take over our thoughts and emotions.

Five: You Can Find Comfort In His Word
The Bible also provides comfort in times of distress by reminding us that God loves each one of us deeply and cares about our well-being more than anything else in this world. Reading Scripture can help you remember that no matter what happens, nothing can separate you from the love of God which surpasses all understanding (Romans 8:38-39).

Six: You Have The Holy Spirit As Your Helper
The Holy Spirit lives inside YOU!! When you are feeling overwhelmed by fear (John 14:16-17), the Spirit is there (inside you) to help you discern between true danger and false alarms so you don’t become paralyzed by irrational fears (Romans 8:15). He also intercedes on your behalf whenever you need Him most (Romans 8:26). You have a spirit of power and love and self-discipline living inside you (2 Timothy 1:7).

Seven: You Know That Fear Is Not From God
Perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). This means as a believer, you don’t have to let fears control your decisions or actions because it ultimately leads you away from the path set forth by Jesus Christ Himself (Matthew 10:28). Instead, rely on the power given through faith in order to move forward despite any obstacles or uncertainties along the way (Hebrews 11:1).

Eight: You Can Rely on Jesus’ Victory Over Death
Jesus has already won the battle against death through His resurrection from the grave (1 Corinthians 15:55-57), which means there is nothing left for you to fear since death has been conquered once and for all! By trusting in Jesus’ victory over death, you can have peace knowing that no matter what happens here on earth—including death itself—you have eternal life awaiting you. (John 3:16; Romans 6:23).
