modeling gratitude

There’s an obvious theme happening throughout some of my posts recently! I’ll give you three guesses and the first two don’t count!

Sticking with the theme of the moment, I thought I’d jump on video today and talk about modeling gratitude.

These are only a couple of ideas of how to model gratitude and I can already think of more but I want to hear what you come up with!

What are tangible ways you can model gratitude toward those around you?

How To Make the Most of Your Time With God

In today’s episode of Ask The Blogger, we are looking at two questions:

1. How do I get the most out of my quiet time?
2. How do I discover the gifts God plans to use in my life?

Great questions!
As I answered the second question, I mentioned a resource I wrote called 5 Keys to Unlock God’s Plan for Your Life. Within that resource, you can find a spiritual gift inventory.

What To Do While You Wait

It has been a while since I’ve done an Ask The Blogger video. Today’s questions came from Lindsey. She asked:

1. What do you have to say about trusting God in the waiting?
2. What is the best way to encourage a pastor’s wife?

It just so happens that I got another email just yesterday asking about waiting on God. Waiting on God is certainly a familiar place for me and I’m super excited to talk about it in today’s video.

I’d love to answer your questions (or at least give it a whirl)! Send me your questions! Your’s might be the next one I answer.

After you watch the video, let me know what you think in the comments. Would you add anything? Is there anything you disagree with? Let me know. Comment below!

Be-Atitudes–Week 6

This is it! And I’m going out with a bang! Ever wonder what it’s like when the doorbell rings while I’m videoing?!? Find out at the end of the first video this week. To be honest, I was at the very, very end of recording and I just couldn’t bring myself to recording it all over. So, you get to see what it’s really like to be interrupted!

It has been such a treat to study a passage of Scripture with such rich application. I’ve been stretched and challenged to submit myself to God’s authority recognizing it is through the power of His Spirit that I am transformed and He receives the most glory.

Thank you for learning alongside me! I would love your input and suggestions for future studies.

Be-Atitudes–Week 5

In a little 6-week study, week 5 got here before I was ready! Week 5 should mean we’re winding down but instead it means we’re ramping up! Up until this week, we’ve covered one beatitude per week. That’s all well and good until you realize their are eight beatitudes and this is a 6 week study!

Starting this week, we will cover two beatitudes per week. Week 5 and 6 will feel like we put it in overdrive.

To be honest, I was a bit worn out after trying to stuff so much into a couple of short videos. However, my hope is for you to allow God to speak to your heart in the time of reflection as well as our video lesson.

Be-Atitudes–Week 4

This week we’re going to study the blessedness of those who hunger and thirst after righteousness. I love this one. God has brought me a long way in my personal journey as I’ve learned what it means to embrace and depend on His righteousness over my own.

When we learn to exchange our misguided standard of righteousness for a God-produced righteousness, we find we long for more and more of God Himself. My prayer for you is for God to continue to move and work in your life through His transforming power.

Be-Atitudes Week 3

I am over the moon with the study of the Be-atitudes. God is opening my eyes to truths from His word which are proving to be convicting and transforming. I want to experience God’s perfect plan for happiness and I know that won’t happen in my current state. It happens as I allow God to change me from the inside out.

This week’s lesson is on meekness and wow, oh wow…this one got me. Meek–not a adjective I use to describe myself if I’m completely honest. Yet, I remember meeting a woman in my early twenties who I could describe only as “gentle.” She was a pastor’s wife and a chaplain for the company where I worked. I realized at the time, I wanted to be like her! What a worthy venture but a misguided plan. Only as I’ve sought after God has my heart begun to take on traits of meekness. There is still a LOOOOONG way to go but thank God for grace.

I can’t wait to hear how God speaks to your heart. Would you share with me in the comments how God is moving and shaping you?

Be-Atitudes-Week 1

As we begin a new study, please realize it will take some time and adjustment to figure out how and when you will add this study into your life.  Choosing to study God’s Word takes intentionally.  It is making one choice to choose Jesus and then making the next choice.  It is a series of choices that lead to a rhythm and lifestyle of seeking after God.

If you get behind, don’t worry.  These lessons aren’t going anywhere!!  This Bible study is designed to be flexible for your schedule.  If you get behind, you can catch up!  I would encourage you, however, to not rush.  Rushing through lessons doesn’t do much for heart transformation.  Give God the time to allow His truth to saturate your heart.

So, here we go!  Week 1: If you’ve done a study with me in the past, this one will be a little different.  I’ll tell you more about it in the first video.  Note there are 2 videos!  Sit back, enjoy, and let God speak to your heart.

But…My Family Doesn’t Want To Go To Church

Happy Friday!

It’s finally turned cold for a lot of us and I just want to snuggle up with a blanket and a book. But today, I’m answering some new questions in our Ask The Blogger Series.

Today’s questions are:

→What can I do to help my family when they have no desire to go to church or be a follower of Christ?
→How can I grow stronger spiritually?

These are not questions that are easy to answer in short little video but I tried to give you a quick start in the right direction.

Did I hit on some of your struggles? Is there something I missed all together?

Who Is In Charge of the World–God or Satan?

In today’s Ask The Blogger video we’ve got some doozies!!

1. How to know if the world is under God’s rule rather than Satan’s rule.
2. How to effectively “start where you are, use what you have, do what you can”–even when you’re actually a really messed up human.

Oh my goodness, that second question is my favorite!! “Even when you’re actually a really messed up human.” Do we not all feel like we’re messed up humans sometimes?

I love the utter transparency of these questions and I’ve done my best to answer them in today’s video.

Question: What are you thoughts? How would you answer these questions? Is there anything you would add? Anything you disagree with? Comment below…I’d love to hear your thoughts!
